I'm feeling really good today. I'm almost to the end of day #4 and I've been able to stick with my plan for all four days. I don't really want to say that it's getting easier as I'm not really sure that it is, but I can say that my cravings have drastically reduced. I hope I'm over the toughest part of the carb cravings. I was even able to go to the movie twice this week and avoid buying popcorn and a drink. I can honestly say that I only remember once in my life that I've ever gone to the movies and not hit the snack bar. In fact, it was to the point where my husband and I would get a large popcorn and two drinks and go back for refills. Yes, seriously.
I've learned that by sticking with my plan and minimizing my carbs to less than 30, I've been able to begin to put my body into Ketosis. Ketosis merely means that our bodies are using fat for energy. According to my doctor this is just what I want my body to be doing. Also, I've been focused on getting at least 84 grams of protein every day. When I increase my protien and decrease my carbs I ensure that my body will burn fat for energy while I'm building my lean muscle. When we build lean muscle we also enable our body to burn more calories and fat.
At this point I'm sure that some of you are beginning to wonder about my exercise routine. I don't have one. You heard me. I don't have one. I figure that I have enough going on right now that I'm choosing not to incorporate an exercise routine for a couple more weeks. In the past I've tried to do it all at once...exercise, eat right, drink my water, etc. Guess how that worked out for me? Well, if it worked out well I wouldn't be here trying to lose about 90 pounds. For what seems like the millionth time. So, I've decided to hold off on exercise until I feel like I've really gotten the first part of my program down.
This morning I weighed in at 200.6 pounds for a .6 loss from yesterday and 5.4 pound loss overall. Although this is the smallest loss to date, I'm not worried about it. I'm impressed that I've lost every day so far. I also drank all of my water, kept my carbs to 27 and got my seven servings of protien as well as took my suppliments twice today. The one problem that I seem to have run into is that most of the food items that I currently eat contain MSG or whey, both of which gives me migraines. I'm also supposed to have two servings of bouillon every day and that also contains MSG. If I eliminate the products containing MSG and whey I'll remove about half of my choices. I've decided to wait until Thursday and discuss this with my doctor. By then I should also know how I'm feeling about my headaches. Do I deal with the pain in exchange for something that seems to be working or do I reduce my choices by half and hope that I don't get bored and cheat?
As for my plan of action in regards to this week and work...I did my homework! I've decided that what I need to do is have my things for the next day ready the night before. If I take my shower in the evening I'll have more time the next morning for breakfast. So, I have my tea in it's travel mug, my oatmeal in the bowl and my hot chocolate in it's cup. My suppliments are out and the tea kettle is ready to go. Since I'm only with the kids until 8:30 in the morning I'll be able to come home and have my mid-morning snack. While I'm at home I'll get what I need for lunch and eat it while the little boy I watch has his. By the time I get back home I'll be ready for my mid-afternoon snack. I'm giving myself the week and then I'll make any changes that might be necessary. So, there you have it. Tomorrow will be my first mini test to see how things go. I'll be faced with my first day of work while on plan, time constraints and a whole different set of temptations. Wish me luck!
